How to cook Vol-au-vent?

The vol-au-vent are a delicious appetizer and snack, in which the main ingredient is the puff pastry.
They have French origins and the term “vol-au vent”¬†comes from the fact that they are so light that they can be taken away from the wind.

200 g of flour
40 g of butter
2 glasses of water
5 g of salt

Put the flour in a bowl, make a hole in the center and pour cold water, melted butter and salt.
Knead until you form a ball, then make a cross on the surface, wrap it in a film and rest it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
After the time indicated, take the dough and stretch it on a oven sheet.

Now you can decide the shape of the puff pastry.
If you want to make vol-au vent you can cut the dough in various little shapes, making some “baskets”.
Then, you can fill them as you prefer: with fresh cheese, ham, tomatoes or green olives, salmon, tuna, salami and other flavors.

When you have filled your vol-au vent, lay them on a baking tin and put it in the oven for about 20 minutes.
